When cancer cost him his tongue, the Reverend Scott Schmieding thought his career as a preacher might be over. Little did he know--he was just getting started. In the years since he beat cancer, he has retrained himself to speak. His speech isn't perfect, but in some ways that has made him an even more effective preacher. One church member told the St. Louis Post Dispatch, "If someone is willing to work that hard to speak, after going through what he went through, I'm going to work twice as hard to listen."
